Storytelling and Zine-Making with Gregorio Gonzalez

Los Luceros Historic Site will have a special guest
musical performer and artist during Dusk ‘Til Dawn Day. At 11 a.m. Dr.
Gregorio Gonzalez (Comanche & Genízaro), Tribal Liaison with the New Mexico
Department of Cultural Affairs, is offering an interactive storytelling and
musical performance called, al la’o del río, about Native New Mexico’s

Gonzalez will then lead a zine-making workshop at 2 p.m. as part of the
program. Art supplies will be provided, but people are also encouraged to
bring art-making materials (i.e. colored pencils, markers, crayons, paper,
etc.) and will learn how to make zines telling stories about local and
regional histories. A zine is a self-published, DIY booklet that can be
filled with art, writing, poetry, collage, and other personal forms of free
expression. Gonzales will share music and stories while people work on their

Dawn ‘Til Dusk Day, which includes these activities, is FREE for New Mexico
residents with ID. Regular admission for non-residents is $7/adult and free
to children 16 years and younger.
