Ann Baur Joins SLFCU as Vice President of Retail Transformation

Financial Services Executive Brings 16 Years of Varied Banking Experience to Credit Union

ALBUQUERQUE, NM—Ann Baur has joined Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union (SLFCU) as Vice President of Retail Transformation. In her new position, Baur is responsible for partnering with SLFCU branch operations, contact center, technology groups, and organizational development to assess gaps between current performance and future needs to help the credit union meet its goals. She will also collaborate with stakeholders to create roadmaps and business plans to facilitate future initiatives.
“Ann has an amazing depth of experience in a wide range of financial services and is expert at relationship management, team building and in planning for and visualizing the future. We are very excited to have her as a member of our team,” said Rick Anderson, SLFCU Executive Vice President.

Baur relocated from Seattle, Wash., to Albuquerque to accept the position, explaining “my new role is challenging because it touches on many aspects of the credit union, focusing on how we can create exceptional experiences for both our team and members. I’m looking forward to listening and learning more about the communities we serve.”

Among initiatives Baur is already engaged in are assessing SLFCU’s training and onboarding processes as well as leadership development to ensure the credit union creates a culture that attracts and retains top talent. She is also working to define and transform the member experience of the future and encouraging team members to be ambassadors in their own communities.

Baur’s most recent previous experience includes positions as vice president/product and proficiency manager, vice president/new hire program manager and vice president/consumer vehicle lending product manager for a nationwide bank in the Seattle area.

She said she was eager to shift her focus from banking to the credit union industry because she wanted to feel her work served a bigger purpose. “I wanted to be a part of an organization that is expanding its commitment to communities, not consolidating or withdrawing from them. I like to think that we step in when others step out,” she said.

Baur holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Nevada in Reno.

She began her career in financial services as a part-time teller while attending college and never looked back. “I loved working with people, and had a lot of great opportunities to learn and grow professionally so I decided to stay,” she said.
