Press Release – NMPCA 2022 Celebration of Clay Exhibit

The New Mexico Potters and Clay Artists (NMPCA) would like to announce the upcoming
Celebration of Clay exhibit, “Uplifted,” June 18th to July 23rd, 2022 at the Taos Ceramics
Center, 114 Este Es Road, Taos, New Mexico. The opening reception will be Saturday,
June 18th, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, all are invited. Regular gallery hours are Wednesday
Noon to 5 pm, Thursday – Saturday 10:00 to 5:00 pm, and Sunday Noon to 4:00 pm.

The New Mexico Potters and Clay Artists is an association of more than 175 Ceramic art
enthusiasts from all over the state of New Mexico and beyond, and has been thriving for
more than 40 years. The Celebration of Clay is a greatly anticipated annual member’s
exhibition. “Uplifted” is this year’s theme. For so many of us, our connection with the
practice of clay-making is our inspiration, we are “UPLIFTED” with a material that
encourages expression of both formative and new experiences. The medium itself brings
spontaneity even in a habitual routine. We turn to clay and to our clay community to uplift
us with new ideas and the camaraderie that only other clay people know.

Every year this exhibit allows members to enter their own selection of work, and
features awards to highlight exceptional works, selected by a juror. This year we have
three, Hebé García, Abby Salsbury, and Jules Epstein. They will be selecting Best in Show
Award of $150, the UNM Arita Porcelain Award for Beauty, Quality and Functionality of
$100, and three Merit Awards of $50 each.

Public and friends can also interact with the exhibit through our online People’s Choice
Award, where you can view the exhibit pieces and vote for your favorite. Go to
www.celebrationofclay.com between June 18th through July 23rd to Vote for the People’s
Choice. Juried awards will be announced at the reception; the People’s Choice Award will
be announced by July 29th on the website, www.celebrationofclay.com.
